Destiny's Child rolls out final North American tour
Destiny's Child is stringing together dates for the North American leg of its current tour, an outing that the trio recently announced will be its last.
The run is currently scheduled to kick off with a July 2 performance at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, and dates so far stretch into early September.
Tickets for several shows are on sale now, and members of the group's fan club have access to online pre-sales for most dates. More information is posted at the club's website.
Dubbed "Destiny Fulfilled ... and Lovin' It," the tour supports last November's "Destiny Fulfilled," the follow-up to 2001's "Survivor." The new album--which sold almost 500,000 copies during its first week in stores and debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart--includes songs co-written by all three of Destiny's Child's members: Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Knowles, however, was "the key producer of all the album's tracks and the record's musical concepts and vocal arrangements are the result of her artistic vision," according to a press release.
Among the outside producers who had a hand in the album were Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Rich Harrison, Andre Harris & Vidal Davis, 9th Wonder, Bryan Michael Cox, Kendrick Dean, Rockwilder, Mario Winans and Erron Williams.
"Destiny Fulfilled" features the cuts "Cater 2 U" and "Girl," music videos for both of which are streaming at the group's website.
A third track from the album, "Soldier"--which also features Lil Wayne--was recently nominated for a BET award for Best Collaboration. Destiny's Child also picked up nods in the Best Group and Viewer's Choice Award categories. The awards ceremony is scheduled to air June 28.
