Strong Rolling Stones ticket sales again reported

Tickets for nine additional Rolling Stones concerts hit the market over the weekend, and the brisk sales pace continued.

Though the Stones' camp is terming all 17 shows for which tickets have so far gone on sale sellouts, tickets for some shows--often single seats, and mostly in higher price ranges--could still be found on Ticketmaster.com on Monday morning (5/23). (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)

According to a press release, more than 450,000 tickets have been sold in the last two weeks for the upcoming Stones tour. Tickets for shows in Philadelphia and East Rutherford, NJ, went on sale Monday morning.

Announced public on-sales for the coming week include three Canadian shows: Toronto, Ottawa and Moncton. The venue for the Ottawa show, originally announced as Frank Clair Stadium, has been changed to Lansdowne Park, according to the Stones website. The website also has information about pre-sale tickets that are available for upcoming shows.

The first leg of the Stones' 2005/2006 tour opens Aug. 21 in Boston. The jaunt wraps up Dec. 1 in Houston, and about 35 shows are confirmed so far. Additional North American shows are in the works for early 2006.

Like the Stones' 2002/2003 "Licks" tour, the upcoming jaunt will visit a mix of stadiums, arenas and clubs. But unlike that tour--which visited fewer than 20 North American cities--the band generally will not play different-sized venues in the same market.

Besides North America, the trek is expected touch down in Mexico, South America and The Far East (possibly including the band's first-ever performances in mainland China). The outing will end in Europe during the summer of 2006.
