Toby Keith fills gaps in tour schedule as new album surfaces
Toby Keith 's "Big Throwdown II" tour--a soon-to-launch outing that will also feature Lee Ann Womack and Shooter Jennings --now features a slew of new dates.
Still slated to kick off June 10 in Charlotte, NC, the run has grown to encompass a number of new July and August dates, including stops at several summer fairs; details are included below.
The tour follows Tuesday's (5/17) release of "Honkytonk University," Keith's first new studio album since 2004's quadruple-platinum "Shock'N Y'All." In the interim, Keith issued the double-platinum set "Greatest Hits 2" last fall.
Tuesday's release of "Honkytonk University" coincides with the annual Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony in Las Vegas, which is scheduled to air on CBS. Keith is vying for four ACM Awards this year, including his second consecutive Entertainer of the Year Award. The singer, who is in the midst of a USO tour in the Middle East, is slated to perform the new album's title track, "Honkytonk U," live via satellite during the ACM Awards ceremony, according to a press release.
Five-time ACM winner Lee Ann Womack is backing her new album, "There's More Where That Came From." She's up for three ACM Awards, including Top Female Vocalist.
Jennings, the son of Jessi Colter and the late Waylon Jennings, is backing his debut album, "Put the O Back in Country."
