Billy Corgan maps tour behind 'TheFutureEmbrace'
The outing is scheduled to launch June 22, a day after his album, "TheFutureEmbrace," lands in stores. The itinerary, which shows Corgan touching down at clubs in 14 major markets, is included below. He'll warm up with an early June European swing.
Corgan recorded "TheFutureEmbrace" in Chicago, working with Bjorn Thorsrud (who's been involved with various Corgan projects since the 1998 Pumpkins album "Adore"), Bon Harris (of Nitzer Ebb), and Brian Liesegang and Matt Walker (both of Filter). Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, who was a member of Smashing Pumpkins and Corgan's short-lived band Zwan, plays drums on one track.
Among the 11 tracks on "TheFutureEmbrace" is a cover of The Bee Gees' "To Love Somebody" that features backing vocals from The Cure's Robert Smith.
"Overall, I always thought bands were better than solo artists--David Bowie being one of those rare exceptions," Corgan said in a statement. "But s--- happens. I was on top of the world with the Pumpkins when my band blew up. I went from being in one of the best bands in the world into some nightmare. All you can do is keep going, and keep on making records you believe in."
