Briefly: Rolling Stones, Iggy Pop, OK Go, Low
The Rolling Stones , who are expected to unveil plans for their 2005/2006 World Tour during a Tuesday (5/10) press conference in New York City, will apparently webcast the announcement.
"Big news is on the way for Rolling Stones fans," reads a statement posted on the band's official fan club website. "Visit the Rolling Stones Official Fan Club at RollingStones.com on Tuesday, May 10 a 1 p.m. (EST) for a very special event."
"A Million in Prizes," a two-disc, 37-track, best-of set from rocker Iggy Pop , is set to hit stores July 26.
OK Go drops its sophomore album, "Oh No," on Aug. 30. The set was produced by Tore Johansson (Franz Ferdinand, The Cardigans).
Low has canceled a North American tour that had been scheduled to launch in June.
"I have not been very mentally stable for the last while," Low frontman Alan Sparhawk explained on the band's website. "Due to this, touring at this time has become too much of a burden on everyone involved. My current problems and instability create undue and unnecessary stress for everyone close to me, especially on the road, so despite coming back from several months of shows we have thoroughly enjoyed playing and being a part of, I have to respect their best judgment. Those last several months have been some of the hardest to live through, and it is too much to ask those around me to have to put up with that any more.
"... I feel like I've come through the worst of it, by there's nothing uglier than lips speaking vain promises, so forgive me if I'm reluctant to be the cheerleader this time. I need to get healthy, and it's apparent that something about touring right now is doing more damage than good."
