Green Day unveils lengthy trek with Jimmy Eat World

Continuing to ride the success of last year's Grammy winning album "American Idiot," Northern California punk-rockers Green Day have lined up an extensive late-summer/early fall outing that will visit a mix of arenas, amphitheaters and stadiums.

The newly announced tour kicks off Aug. 10 in the Chicago area, and concludes in October with a pair of shows in the Los Angeles area. Details are in the itinerary below. Jimmy Eat World has been tapped to open.

Before tickets go on sale to the general market, ticket presales will be offered via long-time Green Day merchandiser Cinder Block's ticketing system. The pre-sales for most of the newly announced dates will begin May 10.

The fall jaunt will follow the trio's spring tour of North America, which concludes later this month, and a summer jaunt through Europe. (European dates are posted on the band's website.)

Green Day's 2004 album, "American Idiot," took this year's Grammy for Best Rock Album. The set entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 last September, and after more than 32 weeks in stores, the triple-platinum set currently sits at No. 12.
