Corrosion of Conformity tour spreads word of 'God'

Southern metal outfit Corrosion of Conformity backs its latest album, "In the Arms of God," during an upcoming headlining trek.

Dubbed the "Stone Breakers and Hellraisers" tour, the run--which will feature support acts Crowbar and Alabama Thunderpussy--kicks off in early June. A two-week stretch of shows is confirmed so far; details are shown below.

Released in April, "In the Arms of God" is COC's first studio set since 2000's "America's Volume Dealer." Group mainstays Pepper Keenan (vocals/guitar), Woody Weatherman (guitar) and Mike Dean (bass) recorded the album with drummer Stanton Moore of jazz/funk outfit Galactic.

"He's one of the most progressive drummers I know," Keenan said of Moore in a statement. "In the heavy-metal world, nobody really knows who he is, but after they hear this, they will. He's an accomplished jazz drummer playing manic heavy music--I've never heard anything like it."

Because scheduling conflicts will prevent Moore from touring with the band, the group has tapped Cry of Love's Jason Patterson to man the kit during the upcoming run. Moore "might sit in occasionally," according to a press release.
