Journey marks 30th anniversary with tour, new studio album

Classic-rock outfit Journey celebrates its 30th anniversary by hitting the road for a summer tour that will support the group's 13th studio album.

The itinerary kicks off June 26 in California, and dates stretch into September. More shows will be added, and the run is expected to wrap up in October, according to a press release.

Tickets for a number of shows are on sale now, and others are scheduled to hit the box office starting Friday (5/6). Details are shown below.

The group is also offering premium ticket packages via ILoveAllAccess.com. More information is available at the band's website.

"We're covering the spectrum of our entire catalog," guitarist Neal Schon said in a statement. "We'll play songs from the very first record and the other three pre-Steve Perry ones, and everything else from there on out, including music from the new album. Then we'll end the show with a bang and play our greatest hits like we always do. We're going to be taking fans through a time trip here. It's going to be very interesting to dive into the past, dive into the future and dive into what we've been doing for the past eight years.”

The band is best known for its string of late-'70s and early '80s hits, such as "Don't Stop Believin'," "Wheel in the Sky," "Any Way You Want It" and "Open Arms," all of which feature ex-frontman Steve Perry, who left the group following the release of 1996's "Trial by Fire."

Current singer Steve Augieri was first featured on the cut "Remember Me," which the group contributed to the 1998 soundtrack for the film "Armageddon."

Original members Neal Schon (guitar) and Ross Valory (bass), along with longtime members Deen Castronovo (drums) and Jonathan Cain (keyboards), round out the lineup.

A new studio album from the group, titled "Generations," is due out this year. The disc will first be given exclusively to ticketholders for shows on the upcoming tour, and will later be released to retail outlets, according to a press release. A retail release date has not been announced.
