Briefly: U2, Rob Thomas, Bob Mould, Ringo Starr
U2 plans to film a video for its track "City of Blinding Lights" on Wednesday (4/27) afternoon in Vancouver.
The band is set to admit 4,000 people into the GM Place arena for the shoot, which will be filmed by French directors Alex and Martin. The pair picked up a Grammy earlier this year for directing U2's "Vertigo," the first single from last year's "How To Dismantle an Atomic Bomb."
Matchbox Twenty frontman Rob Thomas tops the latest Billboard 200 album chart with his debut solo album, "... Something to Be." Matchbox Twenty has never climbed higher than No. 3 on the chart.
Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" falls to No. 2, while rapper Mike Jones claims the No. 3 slot with his major-label debut, "Who is Mike Jones."
Il Divo's self-titled debut bows at No. 4, while 50 Cent's "The Massacre" falls from No. 3 to No. 5.
Former Husker Du and Sugar singer/guitarist Bob Mould will release a new album titled "Body of Song" on July 26. It will mark his first new album since 2002, and his first since the mid-'90s to employ a guitar-heavy sound, according to Yep Roc Records.
Ringo Starr will drop a new album titled "Choose Love" on June 7. He's backed on the set by his band The Roundheads (Mark Hudson, Steve Dudas, Gary Burr and Jim Cox).
Among the guests who appear on the album are Chrissie Hynde, Robert Randolph and Billy Preston.
