Toby Keith --known for songs like "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)" and "American Soldier"--was presented with the Exceptional Service In the Public Interest commendation, signed by FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, at a backstage ceremony during the 2005 CMT Music Awards.

In a presentation, an FBI agent "complimented Toby for his patriotism and service to the armed forces through his USO trips to Iraq and other overseas locations," according to a press release.

Tom Waits , in a statement issued to the press, is considering legal action against Opel, a GM division, for running an advertisement in Scandinavia that he says features music and vocals similar to his.

"In answer to the many queries I have received: No, I did not do the Opel car commercial currently running on TV in Scandinavia," Waits' statement said. "I have a long-standing policy against my voice or music being used in commercials and I have lawyers over there investigating my options.

"If I stole an Opel, Lancia or Audi, put my name on it and resold it, I'd go to jail. But over there they ask, you say 'no,' and they hire impersonators. They profit from the association and I lose--time, money, and credibility. What's that about?"

Waits has waged past legal campaigns--successfully--against Audi in Spain, Lancia in Italy and Frito-Lay in the U.S.
