Backstreet Boys reveal album details, tour plans

"Never Gone," Backstreet Boys ' first album in almost five years, will land in stores on June 14, and the group will back the release with a summer headlining tour that kicks off in mid-July.

The news surfaces as the quintet--Kevin Richardson, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and Nick Carter--near the April 18 finale of a spring club tourthat kicked off last month.

An itinerary for the summer tour was not available at press time.

"Never Gone," Backstreet Boys' fourth original collection, features the cut "Incomplete," which hit radio stations earlier this month. The group recently shot a video for the cut in California with director Joseph Kahn, whose credits include U2's "Elevation" and Britney Spears' "Toxic." The clip is scheduled to debut April 25 on AOL's "First View" at 12 a.m. Eastern Time, according to a press release.

The forthcoming album, which follows 2000's 8-million-selling "Black & Blue," features input from Max Martin, who was involved in the writing and production of previous Backstreet Boys hits "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)," "As Long as You Love Me" and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)."

Other contributors include Mark Taylor, who produced the title track (a cut that Richardson co-wrote the song as a tribute to his father, according to Jive Records), and Dan Muckala, who produced "Incomplete," as well as Billy Mann (Pink, Sting), John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting, John Shanks (2004 Grammy Award Producer of the Year), John Fields (Switchfoot) and Darren Hayes of Savage Garden.

To help launch "Never Gone," Backstreet Boys are scheduled to perform June 10 as part of "The Today Show" concert series; June 14 on "Live with Regis and Kelly," June 16 on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and June 17 on "The CBS Early Show."

The group will also turn up in the pages of People, Entertainment Weekly and Blender magazines.
