Neil Young [ tickets ] underwent brain surgery in New York last Tuesday (3/29) after an MRI revealed a brain aneurysm, and will likely remain hospitalized for a few more days.

"The procedure corrected the problem and has been characterized as a complete success with a total recovery," spokesperson Bob Merlis said in a statement. "And resumption of normal activities by the 59-year-old rock legend is predicted for the near future."

Young reportedly began suffering from blurred vision after performing with The Pretenders during that group's March 14 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

News of Young's condition surfaced Friday (4/1), and he failed to appear as scheduled at the Sunday's (4/3) Juno Awards in Winnipeg. (The Junos are the Canadian equivalent of the U.S. Grammy Awards.)

"I'm really disappointed that I won't be able to make it to Winnipeg," Young said in a statement. "I grew up there and was really looking forward to the show, as well as spending some time with my old friends."

An aneurysm--a bulge in a blood vessel--can be fatal if it ruptures.
