Avril Lavigne stays busy with summer tour
Canadian pop-rocker Avril Lavigne will take advantage of the warm summer months by touring her presumably thawed-out homeland.
Lavigne is due to launch the run in mid-July, and dates so far stretch into early September. The itinerary focuses on Canadian venues, but a few U.S. stops are also planned. Details are shown below.
The roadwork supports Lavigne's sophomore album, last May's "Under My Skin." The double-platinum set features the cuts "Don't Tell Me," "My Happy Ending" and "Nobody's Home."
"Under My Skin" is the follow up to Lavigne's 2002 debut, "Let Go," which hit No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, and has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide, according to RCA Records.
Lavigne, who co-wrote the new album's 12 tracks, collaborated with producers Butch Walker (of the Marvelous 3), Raine Maida (of Our Lady Peace), Don Gilmore (Linkin Park, Pearl Jam), Ben Moody (formerly of Evanescence) and singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. Lavigne's former guitarist, Evan Taubenfeld, co-wrote much of the material with her.
On Tuesday (3/29), the Fuse Network premiered a documentary titled "Avril Lavigne: The Bonez Tour." Repeat showings are scheduled for Thursday (3/31), Saturday (4/2) and Sunday (4/3); showtimes and a clip from the documentary are available at Lavigne's website.
