Fans of The Who [ tickets ] will have to wait a bit longer for the band's first album of new material since 1982's "It's Hard."

In a diary entry on his official website, guitarist Pete Townshend writes, "The release date I had hoped for in the late spring or very early summer was whipped from under my nose after three years of writing. Shows we hoped to do in the early summer seemed to fizzle, and we lost our drummer [Zak Starkey] to Oasis until January 2006. All alternatives proposed, and which I have desperately considered, do not fit in with my current commitments."

Current projects on Townshend's plate include recording the music for his new story "The Boy Who Heard Music" and completing his autobiography.

"I had lots of plans, but no hard schedule," Townshend continued. "And this is what has created this predicament. It's probably my fault, because I work very slowly in the studio, and either no one believed I was actually recording, or they got tired of waiting. I should say that Roger has done what he calls sketch vocals on several tracks I produced, and the results are very exciting. But I feel I can’t tour any more with The Who without a new record. So until that record is actually in my hands, I must hold my breath and live in hope."

Nelly [ tickets ] has postponed several dates on his current "Sweat/Suit Tour" due to the death of his sister Jackie Donahue. Postponements so far are limited to Texas dates in Beaumont (3/24), Hidalgo (3/25), El Paso (3/26) and Nacogdoches (3/28). Rescheduled dates are pending, according to a press release.

Donahue, who was in her early 30s, had a lengthy battle with leukemia. She and Nelly spearheaded Jes Us 4 Jackie, a nationwide drive to get potential bone-marrow donors to sign up on a bone marrow registry.

Rapper Jadakiss [ tickets ] reportedly was sentenced to three months probation this week in Fayetteville, NC. He was facing charges of marijuana and gun possession.

30 Seconds to Mars [ tickets ] are set to release their sophomore album, "A Beautiful Lie," sometime this summer, according to Virgin Records. It will be preceded by lead single "Attack," which is expected to hit alternative and rock radio stations this spring.
