Backstreet Boys expand schedule as tour opens
The Backstreet Boys have embarked on their comeback club tour, which has seen a few recent itinerary tweaks and additions.
Shows that were set to take place in Norfolk, VA, and Myrtle Beach, SC, have been pushed back to later dates in April, and new dates have been added for Atlanta and the Dallas area. Details are in the itinerary below.
According to reports from the tour's Monday night (3/21) opener at New York City's Irving Plaza, the quintet played a nearly two-hour show that mixed its hits with a few new songs. Though the Irving Plaza's small stage made the band's trademark dance routines impossible, they reportedly dusted off a few choreographed moves.
The tour precedes the expected early June release of Backstreet Boys' first new album since 2000's eight-million-selling "Black & Blue." The new album's first single, "Incomplete," will be released to radio March 28, 10 days later than initially planned, according to Jive Records.
The entire group--Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Howie Dorough and Nick Carter--is on board for the new album and tour.
Max Martin--who was involved in the writing and production of previous Backstreet Boys hits "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)," "As Long as You Love Me" and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)"--worked with the group on one of the upcoming album's tracks.
Last Friday (3/18), Backstreet Boys were among several acts to perform at the "Force of Nature Tsunami Aid" concert in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to raise money for victims of last year's tsunami.
