Briefly: 50 Cent, Jack Johnson, Molly Hatchet, Slash, Hank Cochran
"The Massacre" easily outdistanced Jack Johnson 's "In Between Dreams," which sold about 118,000 copies in its second week in stores to rise one spot to No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
The Game's "The Documentary" jumps from No. 5 to No. 3, and Jennifer Lopez's "Rebirth" falls from No. 2 to No. 4. Green Day's resilient "American Idiot" moves up one slot to round out the Top 5.
Danny Joe Brown, who departed rock band Molly Hatchet in the early '80s due to his long battle with diabetes, died last week of complications from the disease. He was 53.
Guitarist Slash 's trademark black top hat, which was taken from his limo during the night of the Grammy Awards (2/13), was recently recovered by the Hollywood Police Department, according to a press release. It's still not known where the hat has been for the past four weeks.
"All things considered, it was such a blown out of proportion, wacky scenario," Slash said in a statement. "I'm still getting reports from all over the world that someone's got the hat. I'm just glad to have it back and we'll see what the cops come up with as far as who stole it."
Country artist Hank Cochran underwent successful triple bypass surgery this week at a Nashville hospital, and is resting comfortably, according to his publicist.
