Briefly: Bruce Springsteen, Gorillaz, Robert Cray, Notorious B.I.G.
New Jersey's Asbury Park Press reports that Bruce Springsteen was rehearsing at Asbury Park's Paramount Theater on Thursday (3/10) in preparation for a tour supporting his forthcoming album, "Devils & Dust."
After a four-hour rehearsal that reportedly included E Street Band guitarist Nils Lofgren, Springsteen signed some autographs.
Dates for the tour--which Springsteen is expected to embark upon without the E Street Band--are still being finalized, but the new album is due April 26.
Gorillaz --the Grammy-winning, cartoon-band invention of Blur frontman Damon Albarn and "Tank Girl" creator Jamie Hewlett--are set to release their sophomore album, "Demon Days," on May 24.
The first single, "Feel Good Inc.," features hip-hop veterans De La Soul.
The Robert Cray Band has completed work on a new album titled "Twenty," which is due in stores May 24.
"What I like most about the album is the variety of songs," Cray said in a statement. "We covered a lot of bases on the record--from a touch of jazz with 'My Last Regret' and 'Two Steps from the End' to 'Does It Really Matter,' which has a rock feel to it. We have a straight-up blues thing with 'It Doesn’t Show' and the song 'Poor Johnny' even has an early reggae or ska kind of beat to it."
The Los Angeles Times reports that the FBI's Los Angeles office has closed its investigation into the 1997 slaying of rapper The Notorious B.I.G. , whose real name was Christopher Wallace.
According to the newspaper, the FBI was looking into whether or not a rogue police officer was involved in the shooting, but failed to turn up enough evidence.
