Metallica Announces Shows For December And January
Metallica will follow its previously announced symphonic shows in Germany and at Madison Square Garden in New York by headlining a pair of non-symphonic December stadium shows in Florida. Sources confirm that the band is also planning to follow its New Year's Eve performance in Detroit with non-symphonic performances at four Midwestern arenas.
Metallica will appear on Dec. 28 at the Orange Bowl in Miami and on Dec. 29 at the Tropicana Dome in St. Petersburg. They will be supported on both dates by Sevendust and Kid Rock .
From there, the band travels to Detroit for its New Year's Eve show with Ted Nugent , Sevendust and Kid Rock. Sevendust and Kid Rock will also share the bill with Metallica during a series of early-January arena appearances.
Tickets for Metallica's Jan. 3 appearance at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee go on sale Saturday (11/13). Onsale dates for the other newly booked shows haven't been announced.
Metallica assembled the mini-tour to support the album and companion video ''S&M,'' which are scheduled to hit stores on Nov. 23. The release date of a DVD version of the video has been pushed back to early 2000.
''S&M'' features 20 songs recorded April 21 and 22 with the San Francisco Symphony. Michael Kamen, who helmed those April shows, will serve as conductor/arranger for the New York City show as well. Metallica first worked with Kamen on the ''Nothing Else Matters'' edit from Metallica's self-titled 1991 album.
