Elton John stacks up more U.S. shows as tour launch nears
Sir Elton John has added more dates to his 2005 U.S. tour, which kicks off Friday (3/4).
New to the itinerary are late-April and early May stops in Kansas City, Denver, San Diego and Anaheim, CA. Tickets for all of the new dates are due to hit the box office in the coming week, as are tickets for newly added September performances in Boston and New York City; John has scheduled two-stands in both cities.
On-sale dates are shown in the itinerary below.
As previously reported, John's plans also include a headlining performance at Philadelphia's July 4 Freedom Concert & Ball, a benefit that aims to raise $2 million for HIV/AIDS awareness.
Sandwiched between John's next couple rounds of U.S. tour dates is his latest stint at The Colosseum in Las Vegas. In 2003, he signed a deal to perform 75 concerts at the venue--located at Caesars Palace, and built for Celine Dion's "A New Day" production--over a three-year period. John performs during stretches when Dion's show is dark. Designed by photographer and director David LaChapelle, John's production is dubbed "The Red Piano."
In 2004, John was the year's No. 10 concert draw, raking in a total of $43.3 million, according to industry-trade Pollstar.
John is currently supporting "Peachtree Road," the 43rd album of his three-decade-plus career. The set hit stores on Nov. 17, and debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
