Steve Winwood plans U.S. tours for spring, summer

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Winwood , who re-emerged after a long respite to tour North America in 2003 and 2004, is set embark on another U.S. jaunt this spring and summer.

Winwood is scheduled to play 10 shows over the course of 12 days in April, a run highlighted by an April 22 performance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. He returns to the U.S. in June for a month of theater, casino and outdoor appearances.

In a letter to fans published on his website in December, Winwood wrote that he'll release a new live album in early 2005; so far, no release date has been announced. Winwood's latest release was 2003's "About Time."

In 2003, Winwood's touring lineup included Jose Neto and drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr.--both of whom are featured on "About Time"--as well as flautist/saxophonist Randall Bramblett and percussionist Edson "Café" Da Silva. He has not yet announced a backing band for the 2005 outing.

Winwood and the rest of the late-'60s/early '70s rock band Traffic were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
