More cities added to Sting's spring trek
Dates continue to trickle in for Sting 's upcoming tour of North America, which launches April 1 in San Jose, CA.
Recent additions to the schedule--including stops in New York, Virginia, Connecticut and Pennsylvania--take the tour well into May. Dates confirmed as of press time are in the itinerary below.
According to a statement issued earlier this year, Sting plans to hit dozens of college campuses in 2005, as well as cities and venues that he didn't visit in 2004.
The ex-Police frontman will be touring with a stripped-down, four-piece band that includes guitarist and longtime bandmate Dominic Miller, guitarist Shane Fontayne (Lone Justice, Bruce Springsteen) and drummer Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle).
Students will have access to special ticket pre-sales for all college-campus shows, with prices starting at $30.50 for general-admission seating on the floor, according to a press release.
Sting also plans to perform a Feb. 10 charity concert to benefit relief efforts for victims of the recent tsunamis in Southern Asia and Eastern Africa. The show will take place at the Leeuwin Estate in Perth, Australia.
Last year, Sting toured the North American theater circuit behind his latest album, 2003's "Sacred Love." A co-headlining run with fellow singer Annie Lennox followed, touching down at amphitheaters and arenas in more than 40 North American cities between late June and mid-October.
"Sacred Love," Sting's 10th album, is the follow-up to 1999's "Brand New Day," and features guest appearances from Vincente Amigo, Anoushaka Shankar and Mary J. Blige.
