Elvis Costello packs winter/spring U.S. itinerary
With the recent addition of numerous April shows, Elvis Costello is now scheduled to make stops in about 30 North American clubs and theaters during his winter/spring tour.
Costello is currently in the midst of a European trek, and is scheduled to launch the U.S. tour March 2 in Orlando, FL. The itinerary, which runs through mid-April, now includes a March 15 stop at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX.
Costello issued two new albums in 2004: the rock album "The Delivery Man" and a recording with The London Symphony Orchestra of his composition "Il Sogno."
Last month, Costello released "The Clarksdale Sessions," a 10-inch vinyl EP he recorded with his band The Imposters during rehearsals for "The Delivery Man." The EP is named for the one-room, Clarksdale, MS, studio in which it was recorded; its tracks include alternate versions of "The Delivery Man" cuts "Monkey to Man" (titled "Monkey" on the EP),"Country Darkness," "Needle Time," "The Scarlet Tide" and the title track. It also features the previously unreleased Costello song "In Another Room" and a cover of "Dark End of the Street."
Five exclusive, live tracks from "The Delivery Man" are currently available at Apple's iTunes Music Store in a collection dubbed "The Futurama Sessions."
A new Costello concert DVD, titled "Club Date: Live in Memphis," is expected to hit stores in April. The DVD was taped last summer at the Hi-Tone Lounge.
On March 1, a new, limited-edition version of "The Delivery Man" that contains a bonus disc housing "The Clarksdale Sessions" and a preview of the DVD is set to hit stores.
