Pearl Jam spearheads school benefit show
Scheduled for March 18 at Seattle's 3,000-seat Paramount Theatre, the event will raise money for The Northwest School, an "independent college preparatory school for grades six through 12" that "values academics equally with the arts," according to a press release.
Only 400 tickets will be sold to the general public via an online auction that begins on Feb. 8. Ticket-package and pricing details are posted at the auction's webpage.
"Tickets to big benefit shows in small venues tend to sell out immediately, providing opportunity for scalpers to turn around and resell tickets online for a high profit margin," organizers said in a press release. "The online auction is an effort by concert organizers to increase the money for the beneficiary and decrease the opportunity for scalping."
The remaining tickets will be sold via the performers' fan clubs, as well as to friends and family members of those affiliated with The Northwest School.
Each artist will perform a 30-minute set, according to Pearl Jam's official website. Two Northwest School students who won a talent contest will perform between sets.
Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard and POTUSA's Jason Finn both are alumni of The Northwest School, Ann Wilson is the parent of a current student and Bill Frisell is the parent of an alumna.
For the past 11 years, Pearl Jam has "provided assistance with financial aid for local students who show promise in the arts but who would not otherwise be able to attend the school," according to a press release.
