O.A.R. adds shows, shoots for new album in the fall
Road warriors O.A.R. , who will soon take a break from working on new material to mount a headlining tour, have added a number of dates to the run.
The group's itinerary has more than doubled since it first surfaced earlier this month, and now runs from March 2-April 9. Newly announced stops include Detroit, Milwaukee, Chicago, Minneapolis and Boston, as well as a two-night stand in the Philadelphia area.
The run will feature show-openers The Southland from March 2- 11 (along with special guest Donovan Frankenreiter Band on March 4), and Ari Hest from March 23-April 9. Steve Kellogg joins Hest on the bill from March 23-April 8, but will miss an April 1 stop in Ohio. Details are shown in the itinerary below.
O.A.R.'s 2005 tour plans also include a slot at this June's Bonnaroo festival, and a fall stint aboard a music-themed cruise dubbed Rock the Boat .
For the past month, the members of O.A.R. have been rehearsing and working on new material in drummer Chris Culos' Rockville, MD, basement, where the group originally got its start. The band "chose to return to their roots for inspiration for their upcoming studio release, due in the fall of 2005," according to a press release.
O.A.R.'s most recent studio album is 2003's "In Between Now and Then." A live CD and DVD titled "34th & 8th"--recorded at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom--followed last year.
