More than 60,000 fans were on hand Saturday (1/22) at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales for a tsunami relief concert featuring Eric Clapton , Jools Holland, Manic Street Preachers and others.
According to British press reports, the concert raised $2.3 million for victims of the recent disaster in Asia.
Other acts on the bill included Charlotte Church, Snow Patrol, Badly Drawn Boy, Feeder, Goldie Lookin' Chain, Craig David, Keane, Lemar and Lulu.
This year's edition of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is scheduled for April 30 and May 1, according to promoter Goldenvoice. The event will again take place at the Empire Polo Field in the Southern California desert community of Indio.
Coachella's official 2005 lineup and other information will be announced soon via the event's website, according to organizers.
Producer, recording artist and songwriter Jermaine Dupri has been appointed president of Virgin Records Urban Music, a new division at the label. As part of the deal, his So So Def label will join Virgin, and he will oversee Virgin's entire urban music operation.
The Bob Dylan memoir "Chronicles, Vol. 1" is among the finalists vying for the 2004 prize in the National Book Critics Circle Awards biography/autobiography category.
