Chingy to launch club jaunt in February
The trek, which includes shows at several House of Blues venues, gets underway Feb. 2 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Among his stops will be a Feb. 3 show supporting Snoop Dogg in Orlando, FL, and four dates with DJ Quik. On Feb. 11, Chingy will perform two 15-minute sets at two different Toronto venues, according to Capitol Records. Details are in the itinerary below.
The tour announcement comes as "Leave Wit' Me," the second single from "Powerballin'," is shipped to radio. The track features vocals by R&B star R. Kelly.
"Powerballin'" debuted at No. 10 on The Billboard 200 album chart on the strength of its first single, "Balla Baby." The album track "Don't Worry," featuring Janet Jackson, has also received heavy radio play.
A new non-album track from Chingy, "Professional," appears on the soundtrack for the new Paramount Pictures film "Coach Carter."
Chingy's first album, "Jackpot," entered The Billboard 200 at No. 2 last year, and spawned the hits "Right Thurr," "Holidae In" and "One Call Away." The album, which was the best-selling debut by a new rap artist in 2003, is certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, signifying U.S. shipments of 3 million copies.
