Bonnaroo nabs Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, many more
This year's festival, which again takes place about 60 miles south of Nashville at a 700-acre farm in Manchester, TN, is set for June 10-12. More than 60 acts will appear during the event; the initial batch of confirmed performers is below.
While acts like Widespread Panic, The Allman Brothers Band and Jack Johnson are returning to the event, Dave Matthews Band, Modest Mouse and The Mars Volta are among those making their first Bonnaroo appearances.
Besides music, Bonnaroo features a 24-hour cinema, a classic arcade with more than 100 games, a brewer's festival featuring a variety of microbrew beers and Mardi Gras parade, a comedy tent and roving street performers.
The festival grounds will also be outfitted with wireless hotspots, a digital message-board system, an Internet cafe and a music-sharing village.
As with previous Bonnaroo festivals, tickets--which go on sale Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. ET--will be sold exclusively through the event's website. According to organizers, the first three editions of Bonnaroo sold out without any traditional advertising.
"When we first started the festival, fans responded to Bonnaroo because it was a new and interesting concept for live music, especially in this country," Jonathan Mayers, of promoter Superfly Productions, said in a statement. "It's inspiring to hear that people now feel it's become a real rite of passage for music fans."
Past Bonnaroo festivals have spawned three volumes of live CDs and two DVD documentaries. A CD and DVD from the 2004 festival are set to hit stores in April, and plans are also in the works for a television broadcast of footage from the festival, according to organizers.
