U.S. tour dates ahead for Elvis Costello
Elvis Costello issued two new albums and toured extensively in 2004, and the veteran singer/songwriter looks to be headed for an equally busy 2005.
Costello opens the year with a series of European dates that run from mid-January to mid-February. He's scheduled to launch his U.S. tour March 2 in Orlando, FL, and 10 dates are confirmed so far. The U.S. tour itinerary is below; information about the European tour is available at Costello's official website.
On the horizon is the Jan. 25 release of the 10-inch vinyl EP "The Clarksdale Sessions," which Costello and his band The Imposters recorded during rehearsals for last year's "The Delivery Man." The EP is named for the one-room, Clarksdale, MS, recording studio in which it was recorded.
Among the tracks on the EP are alternate versions of "The Delivery Man" tracks "Monkey to Man" (titled "Monkey" on the EP),"Country Darkness," "Needle Time," "The Scarlet Tide" and the title track. It also features the previously unreleased Costello song "In Another Room" and a cover of "Dark End of the Street."
Five other alternate versions of tracks from "The Delivery Man" are currently available at Apple's iTunes Music Store in a collection dubbed "The Futurama Sessions."
In addition, a new Costello concert DVD, dubbed "Club Date: Live in Memphis," is expected to hit stores in April. The DVD was taped last summer at the Hi-Tone Lounge.
