Modest Mouse sets more roadwork for the New Year

Portland alt-rockers Modest Mouse , who are currently wrapping up 2004 with a series of sold-out hometown gigs, will be back on the road in the New Year.

The group already has lined up more than a half-dozen shows for January and February as it continues to ride the success of its breakthrough album, "Good News for People Who Love Bad News," which hit stores in April and is certified platinum.

The set, which spawned the hit "Float On," was produced by Dennis Herring (Camper Van Beethoven, Throwing Muses). The album's second single, "The Ocean Breathes Salty," is currently in rotation on MTV.

"Good News" is the follow-up to 2000's critically hailed "The Moon & Antarctica."

Two Modest Mouse downloads are being sold exclusively at Apple's iTunes Music Store: "I've Got It All (Most)," which is the B-side to the "Float On" single, and an alternate version of "The Good Times are Killing Me."
