George Strait again taps Dierks Bentley as tour opener
Dierks Bentley , who opened all of George Strait 's North American dates in 2004, will again support on Strait's upcoming U.S jaunt.
Bentley's self-titled 2004 debut album spawned the hit singles "What Was I Thinkin'?" "My Last Name" and "How Am I Doin'?" Besides opening for Strait and headlining his own shows, Bentley--who played more than 200 dates in 2004--also toured with Kenny Chesney.
Joining Strait and Bentley on the bill will be newcomer Amber Dotson , a Capitol Records Nashville artist who issues her debut single, "I'll Try Anything," in early 2005. The Garland, TX, native was chosen for the tour after Strait heard some of the songs from her upcoming debut album, according to a press release.
Strait is scheduled to embark on his latest arena tour in mid-January. Tickets for only one show--Feb. 5 in Las Vegas--were on sale at press time, with many more set to go on the market later this month, according to Strait's website. More information is in the itinerary below.
The country veteran's new best-of collection, "50 Number Ones," hit stores in October, and spent two weeks atop The Billboard 200 album chart. The set features previously released tracks that span from his first No. 1 hit--1982's "Fool Hearted Memory"--to 2002's "She'll Leave You with a Smile." Besides the 50 previous chart toppers, the set also includes his new No. 1 country single, "I Hate Everything."
According to his publicist, Strait has sold more than 62 million records over the course of his career, and has earned more No. 1 singles than any other country artist. "50 Number Ones" marks his 32nd album release; each of the previous 31 are certified gold or platinum.
