Briefly: Rod Stewart, KROQ Christmas, Death Cab for Cutie, American Hi-Fi

The DVD "One Night Only! Rod Stewart Live at Royal Albert Hall," featuring guest appearances by Chrissie Hynde and Ron Wood, hits stores on Dec. 7.

Besides his normal backing band and singers, Stewart was accompanied at the London performance by the 60-piece BBC Concert Orchestra and the London Community Gospel Choir.

Stewart's setlist included a mix of his greatest hits and songs from his "Great American Songbook" album series.

The lineup for the first night of Los Angeles-area radio station KROQ's two-night Almost Acoustic Christmas--set for Dec. 11 at Universal Amphitheater in Universal City, CA--will include Franz Ferdinand , The Shins , The Killers, Modest Mouse, Interpol, Jimmy Eat World, Keane, Muse, Snow Patrol, Taking Back Sunday and The Music.

The second night's lineup will be announced on Wednesday (11/17).

Death Cab for Cutie --which sold well over 200,000 copies of its 2003 album, "Transatlanicism," for the indie label Barsuk Records--is making the jump to a major label. The band has signed a long-term deal with Atlantic Records, and plans to begin work on a new album after completing its current North American tour.

American Hi-Fi has signed to Maverick Records, and will issue a new album titled "Hearts on Parade" on March 1. The band was dropped by Island Records after it released its sophomore album last year.
