Gwen Stefani's solo debut due in November
A Nov. 23 release date has been set for "Love, Angel, Music, Baby," the solo debut album from No Doubt 's Gwen Stefani .
The set already has spawned the single "What You Waiting For" (currently at No. 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and in rotation at MTV and VH1).
The 12-track album features contributions from a bevy of well-known artists and producers, including The Neptunes, Andre 3000, Nellee Hooper, Dallas Austin, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Linda Perry and No Doubt's Tony Kanal.
A second single, the Dr. Dre-produced "Rich Girl" (featuring Eve ), will be issued before the holidays, according to Interscope Records.
Eve spoke about her first collaboration with Stefani in a 2002 interview with liveDaily. Their track "Let Me Blow Ya Mind," which appeared on Eve's "Scorpion" album, won the Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
"[W]hile I was doing the album, I was thinking, 'I really want to collaborate with somebody, but I want to do something totally different," Eve said. "Like, everybody was going after Fred Durst--and I like Fred Durst--but I was like, "I want a girl. I want a girl rock chick.
"And [Interscope CEO] Jimmy Iovine was like, 'We're going to get Gwen. Let's get Gwen Stefani, let's get her.' And I'm like, 'You think she'll do it?' And he's like, 'Let me handle it.' And he called her and put us on the phone, and it was all good. She was lovin' it. We didn't even meet until the video. We talked on the phone maybe twice before the video.
Among Stefani's promotional plans for the album is a performance at the American Music Awards, which air Nov. 14 on ABC-TV.
