Martina McBride brings back 'Joy of Christmas' tour
For the third straight year, country singer Martina McBride will ring in the holidays with her theatrical production "The Joy of Christmas."
"I was inspired by the Christmas productions put on at New York's Radio City Music Hall," McBride said in a statement. "We go every year and just love it."
The two-hour program includes holiday-themed sets, special effects and lighting, as well as a troupe of actors who take part in scenes that include a Santa's workshop and a live nativity scene. One segment of the show features caroling with the children in the audience.
Tickets for all shows will roll out in the next two weeks, according to McBride's website. The itinerary is below.
McBride's set lists for "The Joy of Christmas" include many of the standards that appeared on her 1999 holiday album, "White Christmas."
Before opening her Christmas tour, McBride is scheduled to appear at Tim McGraw's annual Swampstock charity show. She's also slated to play several more dates on her long-running co-headlining trek with Alan Jackson.
McBride continues to back last year's "Martina," her first new studio set since 1999's "Emotion." She co-produced the platinum-certified album with long-time collaborator Paul Worley, and recorded it at her new Nashville studio, dubbed Blackbird.
Last year, McBride picked up her second straight Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year Award. At May's Academy of Country Music Awards, she picked up her third consecutive win in the Top Female Vocalist category, as well as the Humanitarian Award.
