O.A.R. unveils final 2004 tour dates

O.A.R. kicks off its last string of 2004 concerts later this month, and will finish the run with a two-night stand in New York City.

The do-it-yourself rockers get things started with a pair of late-October shows, then storm through the Eastern U.S. during a 13-date stretch in November.

The New York City finale is set for Nov. 26-27 at the Hammerstein Ballroom, where the group recorded its most recent release, the two-disc live set "34th & 8th," named for the cross streets at which the venue is located.

Frontman Marc Roberge said in a statement that the Hammerstein is the group's favorite New York City venue.

"It's got New York City energy unlike anyplace else in this town," he said. "I've been to every venue in New York, and it's either a Broadway feel, a grungy little club feel, or Madison Square Garden, where you're a mile away from the crowd. At Hammerstein, I feel like the fans are right on top of us. I love this place."

O.A.R.'s most recent studio set is last year's "In Between Now and Then," which features the cut "Hey Girl."
