The Hives to buzz major U.S. clubs
Retro garage-rockers The Hives will again depart their Swedish homeland for a November/December jaunt on the U.S. club circuit.
The quintet is backing its third album, "Tyrannosaurus Hives," which hit stores in July. "Walk Idiot Walk" is the set's first single.
The Hives broke through to U.S. audiences in 2001, thanks in large part to the group's raucous live shows and its members' matching outfits, which hearkened to rock's image-conscious bands of the '70s and early '80s.
"Music should look good," guitarist Vigilante Carlstroem told liveDaily in a recent interview. "We [dressed up] in the beginning in '93 to annoy people, annoy the punks. At that time grunge was pretty big everywhere--people looked like s---, so we decided to do something about it."
The Hives issued their debut album, "Barely Legal," in 1997, and followed it with 2000's "Veni, Vidi, Vicious," which featured the singles "Hate to Say I Told You So" and "Main Offender."
