Brian Setzer Orchestra reissues holiday album, mounts tour

The Brian Setzer Orchestra is gearing up for the re-release of its 2002 holiday set, "Boogie Woogie Christmas"--which will feature previously unreleased bonus material--and a short round of supporting tour dates.

The group is slated to give three December performances in California, and then heads east for back-to-back shows at Caesars Palace in Atlantic City, NJ, on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. The itinerary is shown below.

Fans can expect to hear Setzer and his 18-piece big band perform songs from throughout his 25-year career, including Stray Cats and BSO hits such as "Stray Cat Strut," "Jump Jive an' Wail" and "Rock This Town," according to organizers.

The setlist will also include material from "Boogie Woogie Christmas," the revamped version of which lands in stores on Oct. 12. Included on the re-release will be two new cuts: "Cactus Christmas" and a cover of Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run."

The group has also cut a deal with Target stores, which will carry a version of the album that will feature two additional bonus cuts, "Christmas Island" and "Santa Drives a Hot Rod."

Setzer rose to fame in the '80s fronting rockabilly trio the Stray Cats. He formed the BSO in the mid-'90s, and the band has since won three Grammy Awards.

Earlier this year, Setzer reunited with his Stray Cats bandmates for a European tour. The jaunt spawned "Rumble in Brixton," a live DVD and live CD that capture the trio's July 17 performance at London's Brixton Academy. Available on Oct. 12, the set will feature the cut "Mystery Train Kept 'A Rollin'," Stray Cats' first new song in 12 years.
