Green Day adds more shows to North American tour

More tour dates have surfaced for Green Day [ tickets ]'s fall road-trip in support of its latest studio set, "American Idiot."

The tour--which kicks off in mid-October and is currently scheduled to run until late November--now includes stops in Atlanta; Louisville, KY; Detroit; Chicago; Milwaukee; Minneapolis; Salt Lake City; and Portland, OR. The full itinerary is shown below.

New Found Glory [ tickets ] and Sugarcult [ tickets ] are slated to open during the tour.

Earlier this month, Green Day issued "American Idiot," its first collection of new material since 2000's "Warning." The group's setlist for the upcoming tour will include the new album's "centerpiece, 'Jesus of Suburbia,' a mini-rock opera that features such new originals as 'I Don't Care,' 'City of the Damned,' 'Dearly Beloved' and 'Tales of Another Broken Home,' according to a press release.

Fans can also expect to hear the title track from "American Idiot," which recently hit No. 1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. The song and its companion music video are streaming at Green Day's official website.
