Briefly: Rick James, Yes, Ben Folds, Fender Stratocaster concert
Rick James ' sudden death in August was the result of a heart attack, but the singer also had nine drugs in his system, including cocaine, methamphetamine, valium and vicodin, according to a coroner's report issued on Thursday (9/16).
James' death was not due to a drug overdose, but the drugs in his system likely contributed to his heart attack, according to the report.
James was 56 years old when he died in his sleep at his Los Angeles home on Aug. 6. The singer was best known for his 1981 hit "Super Freak."
Veteran rock band Yes will be the featured artist on the Sept. 30 episode of the PBS concert series "Soundstage," according to a press release. Titled "Yes - The 35th Anniversary - Songs from Tsongas," the program captures a recent Yes concert filmed at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA.
Prior to the PBS airing, the concert film will make its premiere on the big screen during a Sept. 27 event at Regal Cinemas nationwide, when it will be presented as part of a double feature that will also include a Meat Loaf concert titled "Meat Loaf Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra." A list of participating theaters is posted at Yes' website.
A DVD version of the Yes concert is scheduled for release in December, according to the band's site.

Released on Aug. 24, the set features three original cuts from Folds, as well as covers of The Darkness' "Get Your Hands Off My Woman" and Ray Charles' "Them That Got."
"Sunny D" is the final installment in a trilogy of EPs that also includes "Sunny 16" and "Speed Graphic."
