Metallica forges ahead as more tour dates surface
With the launch of its next round of North American tour dates less than a week away, Metallica continues adding dates to the run.
The group, which resumes its tour with a Sept. 21 performance in Cleveland, has now added second shows to its October stops in Philadelphia and Boston, and has also penciled in November concerts in the Ft. Lauderdale area; Jacksonville, FL; and Nashville. Tickets for all five shows are set to hit the box office on Saturday (9/18), according to Metallica's website.
Boston-based rockers Godsmack open on all dates.
Metallica is backing its latest album, "St. Anger," which surfaced in June of last year, and is the band's first collection of all-new material since 1997's "Reloaded." Between the two albums, the group parted ways with bassist Jason Newsted, enlisted bassist Rob Trujillo, and hung in limbo while frontman James Hetfield checked himself into a rehab program for various addictions.
Much of the drama, as well as the making of "St. Anger," is documented in the film "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster," which is in theaters now. More information is available at the film's website.
Last month, Metallica issued "So What!," a "chronologically edited history of 'So What,' the [band's] fan club magazine." The material that originally appeared in the magazine was re-edited and re-designed into the 288-page, full-color, hardback book, according to Metallica's website.
