Vote for Change acts come together for DC finale
Thirteen of the acts participating in the Vote for Change Tour--including Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, R.E.M., Dixie Chicks , Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band --are scheduled to appear at an Oct. 11 tour finale at Washington, DC's MCI Center.
Also scheduled to appear at the four-hour concert are John Mellencamp, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, John Fogerty, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Jurassic 5 and Keb' Mo'.
Tickets for the show are scheduled to go on sale Saturday (9/18) at 10 a.m. Eastern Time via Ticketmaster, according to organizers. (Ticketmaster is liveDaily's parent company.)
"We all wanted to come back together for a finale show after we had finished our separate tour dates," Pearl Jam's Stone Gossard said in a statement. "We thought our nation's capitol seemed like the most ideal place to do that."
The Vote for Change Tour--which comprises six separate treks aimed at motivating voters in states expected to be pivotal in this year's U.S. presidential election--takes place in late September and early October.
Tickets were still available for many shows at press time, according to organizers. The full itinerary is below.
The Vote for Change tours are political fundraisers presented by MoveOn.org to benefit the liberal advocacy group America Coming Together, so various federal rules apply to ticket sales, according to organizers. Ticket buyers must:
- be at least 18 years old.
- be a U.S. citizen or resident alien.
- purchase the tickets using his/her own credit card.
- provide his/her name, address, email address, occupation and employer.
More information is available at the ACT and MoveOn.org websites.
Because the extra information must be collected when tickets are purchased, tickets sold by Ticketmaster will be available only via telephone and online; tickets won't be sold at Ticketmaster outlets.
In other news, John Fogerty--who had dropped off the bill of the Vote for Change dates that feature Springsteen, R.E.M. and Bright Eyes--is again scheduled to appear at the shows. Fogerty is now billed as a special guest of Springsteen and his band.
