Van Halen books more North American dates

Van Halen fans in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada will soon get their chance to see the group during its ongoing reunion tour with singer Sammy Hagar.

The band's itinerary now includes a series of October stops that are set in Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Details are shown below.

Tickets for the newly added dates will hit the box office on Sept. 11, according to Van Halen 's official website.

The new shows extend a tour that launched in June. The outing is Van Halen's first with Hagar at the mic since 1995. He and the other band members--guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen and bassist Michael Anthony--split on bad terms in 1996.

Hagar and Anthony soon mended fences, and Anthony frequently performed with Hagar during Hagar's post-VH solo years, but it wasn't until late last year that Hagar patched things up with the Van Halen brothers.

The reconciliation led to recording sessions at Eddie Van Halen's Southern California studio, dubbed 5150. There, the group recorded three new songs, all of which are included on "The Best of Both Worlds," a two-disc compilation that also houses previously released cuts from the band's studio albums with Hagar and original singer David Lee Roth.

Two of the new tracks--"It's About Time" and "Up for Breakfast"--are streaming in their entirety via the album's online media player. The player also includes full-length versions of the collection's previously released material, and a clip of the third new cut with Hagar, "Learning to See."

On Sept. 14, Rhino Records issues the DVD version of Van Halen's 1986 concert film, "Live Without a Net." Previously, the set was available only in VHS format. More info is posted at the label's website.
