Kenny Rogers and John Berry Announce Tours
Country music singers Kenny Rogers and John Berry have each announced their annual Christmas tours. Both will perform traditional yuletide material, and Berry will include songs from his new album, "Wildest Dreams."
Rogers' set-designed show, called ''Christmas from the Heart,'' will have a 23-city run, beginning at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Nov. 24. The show ran on Broadway last year and includes the songs ''Let It Snow'' and ''White Christmas.''
His album ''She Rides Wild Horses'' is currently at number thirty and has been on the charts for twenty-two weeks.
Berry's tour starts in Spokane, Wash. on Nov. 26 and covers 14 cities, including three nights apiece in Las Vegas and Robinsonville, Miss.
Berry, a longtime Georgia resident who recently moved to Nashville, made six indie records with Nashville producer Jon Vezner before hitting it big with his self-titled debut on Liberty, which went platinum in 1993.
His new album ''Wildest Dreams'' (Lyric Street Records) is a light country disc with radio appeal. ''Power Windows,'' now on the Country Top 40, is a Billy Falcon song comparing a Mercedes owner who has everything but love with a '69 Dart owner who doesn't have material amenities, but does have the ''power of love.'' The album also includes a Phil Collins love ballad (''You'll Be in My Heart'') and ''You're the Voice,'' an inspirational number which encourages social unity instead of violence.
In addition to songs from ''Wildest Dreams,'' Berry's Christmas shows will present most of the songs on his 1995 holiday album ''O Holy Night.''
