Lynyrd Skynyrd bookends Allman Brothers tour with headlining dates
Both before and after they share the stage with The Allman Brothers Band during a brief series of fall co-headlining dates, Southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will maintain a busy tour schedule of their own.
The group's current string of headlining dates runs through the end of September, and is followed by the early October stint with the Allmans. Skynyrd has also begun plotting more headlining dates that follow the joint outing. Details are shown below.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is supporting June's "Lynyrd Skynyrd Lyve," a double album and companion DVD that captures the group's 2003 performance at the Nashville-area's AmSouth Amphitheatre. More information about the set is available at the band's website.
On Oct. 5, Sanctuary Records issues "Under the Influence - A Jam Band Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd." The 11-song disc includes performances by Gov't Mule, Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd and The Monsters, Les Claypool (Primus), North Mississippi Allstars and Drive-by Truckers, according to a press release.
Skynyrd's most-recent studio set is last May's "Vicious Cycle," which features the cut "Dead Man Walkin'."
