Briefly: Kittie, Britney Spears, Ray Charles, Five Eight
Rockers Kittie have cancelled the remaining dates on their summer tour--which was scheduled to run through the end of the month--because drummer Mercedes Lander is suffering from severe dehydration and exhaustion.
Lander was hospitalized Wednesday (8/11) in Cleveland, and the group called off its planned show that night. She was released from the hospital, and the group expected to perform in Cincinnati on Thursday (8/12). However, Lander again became ill before the show, and she returned home to Canada for further tests.
The band hopes to make up the missed dates later this year, according to a statement on its official website.
Britney Spears has recorded a cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative," which will be the first single from her forthcoming greatest hits album. The single is set for release in September, and the best-of album is due in November.
"Genius Loves Company," a duets album that Ray Charles completed before his death, will hit stores on Aug. 31. Elton John , Norah Jones, James Taylor and Willie Nelson are among the artists Charles collaborated with for the set.
Athens, GA, rock band Five Eight 's sixth album, which was released independently with limited distribution earlier this year, will be issued nationally on Aug. 24. The self-titled set is the group's first album since 2000's critically lauded "The Good Nurse."
