Third Day sets up busy touring schedule, plans DVD taping
Christian rock outfit Third Day supports its latest album, "Wire," with a lengthy round of summer and fall tour dates, during which the band plans to film a show for use in a forthcoming DVD.
The DVD taping takes place at the Louisville Palace in Louisville, KY, on Thursday (7/22); the stop is one of a dozen summer tour dates that the group has lined up, most of which are set in August.
A subsequent round of fall tour dates kick off in late September, and stretches well into December. Details are shown below.
The group hasn't announced a release date for the live DVD.
Released in May, "Wire" is the follow-up to last year's "Offerings II: All I Have to Give," and is Third Day's seventh album overall. The group, which worked with producer Monroe Jones on several previous albums, enlisted producer Paul Ebersold (3 Doors Down, Sister Hazel) this time around.
"This has been our most challenging record to make, without question," bassist Tai Anderson said in a statement. "Everything took three times as long. We fought three times as long about every song. Paul created an environment where we were free to struggle, and everyone was free to argue and be passionate about their ideas. We feel like this is a great record, but it definitely came from the struggle, and really wrestling."
"Wire" sold more than 61,000 copies during its first week out--a record for the band, and enough to secure a No. 1 debut on Billboard's Top Christian Albums chart and a No. 12 debut on The Billboard 200 album chart, according to a press release.
Last month, Third Day hit the studio to record a track that will turn up on a compilation album featuring songs inspired by the film "The Passion of the Christ." The set, which is due out on Aug. 31, will also feature contributions from Lauren Hill, Scott Stapp (Creed), Rob Thomas (Matchbox Twenty), P.O.D., Brad Paisley and others.
