Gomez, Polyphonic Spree tour between Lollapalooza gigs
Self-described symphonic-rockers The Polyphonic Spree and U.K. jam-band Gomez , two acts on the day-two bill of this summer's Lollapalooza tour, will embark on a co-headlining club outing that plays during Lollapalooza's off days.
The Thrills --an Irish group that will appear on Lollapalooza's day-two second stage--will support on the club dates.
Gomez is supporting its fourth album, "Split the Difference," which hit stores last month. The group's debut release, "Bring it On," picked up the U.K.'s Mercury Music Prize for Album of the Year in 1998.
Dallas-based The Polyphonic Spree, which recently wrapped up a stint opening for David Bowie, issues its second album "Together We're Heavy," on July 13. The group, led by former Tripping Daisy frontman Tim DeLaughter, features 22-members who dress in flowing robes.
Lollapalooza, which opens in mid-July, has a two-day format this summer. Besides Gomez and The Polyphonic Spree, the event's day-two, main-stage lineup also features the String Cheese Incident and The Flaming Lips.
