Briefly: Aerosmith, Bonnaroo, Madonna, James Brown
Aerosmith has postponed or canceled planned shows in Pelham, AL; Atlantic City, NJ; and Scranton, PA, reportedly due to illness.
Promoters didn't announce who was sick, or the nature of the illness.
The Pelham date--which was to take place Sunday (6/13) at the Verizon Wireless Music Center (formerly the Oak Mountain Amphitheater)--has been rescheduled for June 30 at the same venue. At press time, promoters hadn't announced whether or not the other two shows would be rescheduled.
The outing, which features Cheap Trick in the opening slot, is expected to resume on June 16 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Two Bonnaroo music festival attendees died at a Manchester, TN, hospital over the weekend, and authorities suspect that drugs were involved in both cases, Nashville newspaper The Tennessean reported.
Police reportedly said that 20-year-old man died on Friday (6/11) and a 22-year-old woman died on Saturday (6/12) after they were rushed via ambulance from the festival grounds to the hospital.
The sold-out festival reportedly drew 150,000 fans over its three days. The two deaths were the first of Bonnaroo's three-year history.
Madonna 's Maverick Records has reached an agreement in principle with Warner Music Group to settle pending litigation and to restructure the Maverick/WMG joint venture, according to a press release.
Under the agreement, Maverick partner Guy Oseary will sign a new, multi-year contract with the label, and WMG will purchase the interests in the label held by Madonna and Maverick COO Ronnie Dashev. The moves will give WMG majority ownership of Maverick.
Maverick had filed a $200 million suit against WMG in March, alleging that the company and other defendants engaged "in acts of self-dealing and secret profit-taking, falsely accounting for receipts and expenses of the partnership [and] sacrificing the interests of the partnership and its partners for defendants own self-financial interests."
James Brown, 71, reportedly has pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge, and had paid a $1,078 fine. He was arrested in January for allegedly pushing his wife to the floor and threatening to kill her.
