Tony Bennett plots summer and fall concert dates
Tony Bennett has lined up concerts for the coming months in more than two dozen cities, including four New York City appearances.
The New York-born crooner's schedule currently shows him playing a mix of theater, casino and festival dates through November, ending with four New York performances at Jazz at Lincoln Center's new home in the $128 million Time Warner Center.
Bennett's 50-plus-year music career has netted him an even dozen Grammy Awards. His latest came earlier this year, when he won in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for 2002's "A Wonderful World," an album of duets honoring Louis Armstrong that Bennett recorded with K.D. Lang.
Bennett dedicated his Grammy to the late singer Rosemary Clooney, who was also nominated in the category. Bennett and Clooney were both signed to Columbia Records by Mitch Miller in 1950, and the two remained close friends until Clooney's death in 2002.
Clooney and Bennett have both been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards from The Recording Academy.
