Peter Frampton follows VH1 tour with solo dates
Peter Frampton , who is in the midst of a joint outing with Styx , follows that run with a series of headlining dates and festival appearances.
The bulk of the VH1 Classic Summer Hits tour--which features co-headliners Styx and Frampton, along with show-openers Nelson--wraps up on June 27, with one additional date set for July 11. In between, Frampton is set for a June 26 in-store appearance in Philadelphia and series of early-July festival performances.
Frampton will also play a number of August and September shows. Details are shown below.
The outings support last year's "Now," which houses nine new Frampton originals, as well as a cover of the late George Harrison's "My Guitar Gently Weeps," and the track "Hour of Need," which Frampton first wrote and recorded for the 2001 Cameron Crowe film "Almost Famous."
Backing Frampton on the road are guitarist Gordon Kennedy, bassist John Regan, drummer Shawn Fichter and keyboardist Blair Masters. Masters replaces longtime keyboardist Bob Mayo, who died of a heart attack while touring Europe with Frampton earlier this year.
Fans will be able to purchase a recording of the Frampton show they've attended via Instant Live, a company that records concerts and burns them to CD on site so that concertgoers can purchase the recording at the venue immediately following the performance. More information is posted at Frampton's website, as well as at Instant Live's website.
Frampton is best known for his 1976 live set, "Frampton Comes Alive!" The album--which featured the singles "Baby I Love Your Way," "Show Me the Way" and "Do You Feel Like We Do"--rocketed to the top of the album chart, and is the top-selling live rock album ever.
