Alan Jackson sets late-summer headlining dates

Now that his lengthy co-headlining tour with Martina McBride is in the books, country singer Alan Jackson is preparing to embark on his own trek.

With the exception of a pair of late-June appearances at Country Fest 2004 in Cadott, WI, Jackson will keep a low profile through early summer. He'll get back on the road in August, starting with a series of shows in Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Arizona.

Last month, Jackson's duet with Jimmy Buffett, "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," claimed ACM Awards in the Single Record of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year categories. Jackson was named the Country Music Association's Male Vocalist of the Year in 2003.

"Greatest Hits Volume II and Some Other Stuff," the latest release from Jackson, sold more than 328,000 copies in the U.S. during its first week in stores last August, and debuted at No. 1 on the pop and country album charts.

Along with 18 well-known songs from throughout Jackson's career, the best-of set features two new tracks: "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" and the Jackson-penned track "Remember When."

The Georgia native has become one of country music's most bankable acts over the years, and has sold more than 36 million albums since his 1989 debut, "Here in the Real World," according to his label.
